This year the theme for International Women’s Day is #EachforEqual, and “I am generation equality”. It’s a day to remind ourselves of the journey we’ve had, and it advocates for equality. It is also a day to celebrate the achievements of women all over the world. Social, personal or professional achievements, they all deserve to be celebrated.

Here at Save Your Wardrobe, we want to advocate the power women have in the fashion tech industry. We interviewed the women of our team to hear about their experiences, and what they will be celebrating this year, for international women’s day.

Meet the bright women of our teams based in Tunis and in London!

What do you love most about being a woman in the fashion tech industry?

Technology has always been a huge passion of mine and I am being constantly impressed by its power to solve real world problems, especially in a relatively new field like fashion. The combination of using cutting edge technologies in a way that is going to have a positive impact on the world, as well as being part of a mostly female team is such a unique and inspiring experience for me!

International women’s day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women. What achievement are you celebrating this year?

I am proud of taking up more responsibilities in my current work at Save Your Wardrobe.

What do you love most about being a woman in the fashion tech industry?

Fashion has always been my passion , but in my own way. I remember last summer i watched a Youtube video in which they introduced the smart mirror, and it was so interesting. In that moment i knew that it is possible to combine the fashion/beauty and the tech worlds. As a web developer, the fashion tech industry helped me a lot to do what i always wanted to do.

International women’s day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women. What achievement are you celebrating this year?

I am celebrating my new exciting journey in Save Your Wardrobe, and also the beginning of new experience and challenges.

What do you love most about being a woman in the fashion tech industry?

The aspect of sorority, often absent in a lot of industries. This idea of universality, strong and boundless connections. I am in general so proud of being “surrounded” by inspiring women from all part of the globe, united by the same cause and vocation.

International women’s day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women. What achievement are you celebrating this year?

The achievement of a new start, a new adventure. Professionally and personally.

Eirini Batakis

What do you love most about being a woman in the fashion tech industry?

I love seeing how more and more women are getting involved and recognised in a predominantly male industry, such as tech. I am very proud of being a member of such an inspiring company, having mostly female coworkers and creating a successful app that will help people and the environment.

International women’s day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women. What achievement are you celebrating this year?

Having been on the journey of Save Your Wardrobe for a full year now, the launch of the app is a huge achievement for me. Also, managing to grow within the company and personally. Can’t wait for the exciting things the future holds!

Olga Cieslak

Customer Success Manager

What do you love most about being a woman in the fashion tech industry?

The excitement that the two industries bring when combined. The fashion industry is facing a social as well as an environmental crisis and the marriage of technology brings a plethora of innovative solutions. Being a woman in this industry bridges the women-oriented fashion scene with the male powered tech world.

International women’s day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women. What achievement are you celebrating this year?

I am celebrating growth, mindset shifts and relationships both personal and professional. I am celebrating pursuing my passions and making a positive change as a female in the industry.

Marketing Intern

What do you love most about being a woman in the fashion tech industry?

Fashion has always been a huge part of my life, and obviously nowadays technology is huge, I use it every day; so to combine the physical and virtual is super fun! It’s also great, because tech is often considered a male industry, and fashion female, so I feel like boundaries are slowly being pushed to make both more inclusive because honestly, gender doesn’t matter!

International women’s day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women. What achievement are you celebrating this year?

I’m celebrating personal growth and just confidence in general! It’s been a year of ups and downs, and I have come to realise how important my relationship with myself is, and I feel like I’m slowly getting there!
I am also celebrating my internship with Save Your Wardrobe! Having only been here for three weeks, I already feel like I have learnt so much about the industry, and it has increased even more my passion for sustainability, which is always great!

Camille Bénard

Marketing Intern

What do you love most about being a woman in the fashion tech industry?

Working alongside other motivated women is probably my favourite part of working in this industry. Feeling integrated and part of a team where my ideas are listened to and my work is valued. I’ve always heard that having a supportive network is important, and I really feel as though that is what I’ve found here. The other women I work within the industry make all the difference. We bring each other up and share the same passions: fashion, sustainability, circular economy.

International women’s day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women. What achievement are you celebrating this year?

On International Women’s Day, I will be celebrating getting a space on my year abroad programme. Next year, I will be going to South America for the year. It has been a dream of mine for a while to study and travel there. It was a long and competitive process, so I’m celebrating the achievement of having had the determination and hard work to get in. This internship has also been very eye-opening, and I’m very excited to be part of this journey with the team.

Hasna Kourda

CEO & Co-Founder

What do you love most about being a woman in the fashion tech industry?

I am a female founder in an industry so far prominently led by male figures. I have the opportunity to bring a new and innovative perspective to solve a problem to an industry that is facing an environmental and existential crisis. I love seeing other female founders unapologetic shaking a broken system. It feels great to be part of this movement.

International women’s day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women. What achievement are you celebrating this year?

Launching the app is of course the highlight of this quarter. However leading a fabulous female team which I am extremely proud of is what I would like to celebrate this year! Each of them is incredibly inspiring, ambitious, eager to deliver outstanding products and on top of that they are all driven by the mission to make sustainability mainstream.
