One year ago, French fashion brand Maje partnered with Save Your Wardrobe to reimagine how aftersales and repair services could work for modern retail. In an industry producing 92 million tonnes of textile waste annually (Ellen MacArthur Foundation), this collaboration set out to prove that fashion waste is avoidable, and that garments deserve a longer life.

Fashion Has a Waste Problem and the Numbers Prove It

The fashion industry produces over 92 million tonnes of textile waste every year, and shockingly, less than 1% of discarded clothing is recycled into new garments (source: Ellen MacArthur Foundation). Often, it takes just a minor defect, a loose seam, missing button, or worn sole for a perfectly good piece to end up in landfill.

Recognising both the environmental challenge and a growing customer demand for more responsible services, Maje, one of France’s leading contemporary fashion brands, sought a scalable, accessible repair solution. That’s where Save Your Wardrobe came in.

Through this partnership, Maje and Save Your Wardrobe have empowered customers to extend the lifespan of their clothing through affordable, accessible repair services across France, both online and in-store, while supporting local artisans and contributing to a more circular fashion economy.

A Year of Circular Care

Maje understood that aftercare services were no longer an optional extra but a critical part of delivering on their CSR commitments and circularity goals. The brand needed a partner capable of providing tech-enabled, operationally seamless repair services across its store network while aligning with France’s evolving environmental regulations.

By partnering with Save Your Wardrobe, here's what Maje achieved in 12 months:

  • Launched a 2-year repair warranty programme, supported by France’s “bonus réparation” scheme via Refashion.
  • Rolled out nationwide repair services across Maje’s French store network.
  • Enabled customers to book repairs both digitally and in-store, making aftercare convenient and desirable.
  • Certified Maje’s workshops to offer subsidised, professional repairs — reducing the cost barrier for consumers.
  • Developed a detailed catalogue of repair types, product categories and defect records for seamless, scalable service delivery.

Why It Matters

This initiative isn’t just about fixing zips and stitching hems. It’s about shifting the perception of fashion aftercare, making it part of the customer experience and business model, not an afterthought.

As Sara Dalloul, Head of Communication & PR at Maje, puts it:

"Our partnership with Save Your Wardrobe is a concrete step in making circularity more accessible. It’s not just about designing responsibly; it’s about giving our clothes a longer life. As a brand, we believe it’s important to engage openly on these subjects and support practical solutions that help shift habits over time."

By embedding repair into retail operations, the impact we've seen:

  • Hundreds of items repaired and restored, each one diverted from landfill
  • Strengthened alignment with SMCP’s environmental and climate targets, including their Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitments
  • Creation of new circular revenue streams via reconditioned product resale
  • Support for local artisan repair workshops, preserving craftsmanship and job opportunities

What’s Next: Scaling the Circular Care Model

Following the success of the nationwide rollout in France, Maje and Save Your Wardrobe are preparing to expand aftercare services to Europe in 2026, with further markets to follow. This positions Maje not just as a fashion leader, but as a pioneer in responsible, circular retail services, proving that great fashion isn’t disposable, and neither is its value.
